PrepLift helps school students with homework, mainly through WhatsApp. Most of our users are children. That shapes everything below: we collect as little as the service can work with, we do not keep homework photographs at all, and we do not sell anything about anyone.
This policy covers both the WhatsApp service and the PrepLift web platform. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.
PrepLift (“we”, “us”) operates the PrepLift WhatsApp service and the website at preplift.in. For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are the Data Fiduciary for the information described here.
Homework photographs are never stored. A photo you send is read in memory to extract the question, passed to the solver, and discarded when the answer is sent. It is not written to disk, not saved in our database, and not retained in any backup. The same applies to voice notes and PDFs.
We keep the extracted text of the question, because that is what lets us show you your own progress. We do not keep the image it came from — a homework photo carries handwriting, sometimes a name, sometimes a school crest, and none of that is needed to teach anybody anything.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anybody.
Questions are solved using third-party artificial intelligence services. To do that, the text of your question — and, for diagram questions, the image — is sent to those services for processing. They are used for three things only: reading the question, producing the solution, and generating the spoken version when you ask for one.
We send only what is needed to answer the question. Your phone number, your name and your history are never included. Our providers are engaged under terms that prohibit them from using your content to train their models.
We keep a current list of the sub-processors we use and will share it on request — write to privacy@preplift.in. We publish it that way rather than inline so the list stays accurate as providers change, instead of going stale on a page nobody re-reads.
AI can be wrong. Where the system is not confident, it says so and tells you to check with your teacher. Please do — a solution from PrepLift is study help, not a guarantee.
This service is intended for school students, and we assume our users are children. Under the DPDP Act, processing a child’s personal data requires verifiable consent from a parent or guardian, and we do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children. We do not do any of those things for anyone.
Specifically, for every user we treat as a child:
A parent or guardian may ask us at any time to show, correct or delete everything we hold about their child. Write to the address in section 10 from the phone number or email associated with the account.
We share information only with:
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Database access is restricted at the row level so one student’s data is not reachable through another’s session, and webhook requests are cryptographically verified before we act on them. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Under the DPDP Act you may:
Privacy questions, data requests and account deletion: privacy@preplift.in. We aim to respond within 5 business days, and in any case within the period the law allows.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for anything significant we will say so in the WhatsApp chat rather than expecting you to come back and re-read this page.
