PrepLift ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, including students, parents, and educators. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the PrepLift platform at preplift.com and our related services.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, class/grade, board (CBSE/ICSE), and school name (optional). Teachers may additionally provide their institution details.

b) Usage Data

We collect information about how you use PrepLift, including questions attempted, answers submitted, AI grading results, chat interactions, study streaks, time spent, and performance analytics. This data is used to personalise your learning experience.

c) Payment Information

Payments are processed securely by Razorpay. We do not store your credit/debit card numbers, UPI IDs, or bank account details. We only store subscription status, plan type, and transaction references provided by Razorpay.

d) Device and Technical Data

We may collect your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system for analytics and security purposes. We use cookies to maintain your login session.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and improve the PrepLift learning platform
• Grade your answers using AI and provide personalised feedback
• Track your study progress, streaks, and performance analytics
• Process subscription payments and manage your account
• Send important account notifications (verification, billing, password reset)
• Ensure platform security and prevent misuse

3. AI Processing

PrepLift uses AI (powered by third-party language model APIs) to grade answers, provide feedback, power the chatbot, and perform handwriting OCR. Your submitted answers and images are sent to these AI services for processing. We do not use your data to train AI models. AI responses are generated in real-time and are not permanently stored by the AI provider.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Razorpay — for payment processing, governed by their privacy policy
• AI service providers — for answer grading and chatbot functionality (answer content only, not personal identifiers)
• Supabase — our database and authentication provider, for storing your account and progress data
• Law enforcement — if required by Indian law or a valid court order

5. Data Retention

Your account data and learning progress are retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records under Indian tax regulations for 7 years).

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication (JWT tokens), and access controls. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. While we strive to protect your data, no system is 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

PrepLift is designed for school students (Class 6 and above). We collect only the minimum data necessary for the platform to function. If a student is under 13 years old, we recommend that a parent or guardian supervise account creation. Parents may contact us to review, modify, or delete their child's data.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and download your personal data
• Update or correct your profile information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Opt out of non-essential communications
